Jen Reyes is a media enthusiast who enjoys analyzing how New Media is re-defining society’s views on digital technology, culture and communities. With her creativity in photography and basic skills in web designing, the evolution of new media allows her to highlight her abilities to the rest of the world.
In the early 2000s, Jen developed a surprising passion for photography after attending many music shows to support local bands in San Diego. She decided to pursue a career as a photographer specializing in live music photography. With a foundation in music photography, Jen found she also enjoys taking pictures of many kinds of people, places she has traveled, and action sports (especially water sports). Through her experience in photography, Jen created Beyond PhotoJENic, a project chronicling life caught on camera put on display through New Media avenues. With the influence of New Media and traditional media, people have the choice to evaluate deeper and participate on subjects that interest them, and even ones they have yet to discover.
During her high school years, Jen wanted to learn more on how she can display her creations and thoughts on the World Wide Web. Therefore, she picked up web designing on her leisure time. Jen is self-taught in creating web sites with WordPress and HTML. Due to the harsh job economy currently, Jen is helping small business entrepreneurs in creating their own websites and online living resumes.
Jen graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Journalism emphasis in Media Studies with a minor in Business Management.
